Derek earned a Bachelor's degree in Business in 1988 from Towson State University. He attained his Master's of Science in Physical Therappy from Wheeling Jesuit University in 1999, and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Wheeling Jesuit in 2005. He started his career in 1999 at Davis Memorial Hospital in an inpatient setting. After 10 months he moved to the outpatient clinic. He then worked with Elkins Physical Therapy Service for 5 years before taking an outpatient position at Broaddus Hospital in Philippi. He returnd to Elkins Physical Therapy Service in December of 2014. He is certified to perform therapeutic dry needling and has a particular interest in hand therapy having enjoyed considerable continuing education in this area.
Derek lives in Elkins with his wife and son. He loves the outdoors, is an avid mountain biker, enjoys fly fishing and in the winter you can find him skiing.
